Aquaponics is increasing in popularity at the moment with people looking for ways to be more self sufficient and eat organically grown food, without chemicals, no herbicides or pesticides. There are obvious elements and not so obvious elements.
Everyone can see the fish and the plants but they often miss the most important element of the aquaponics that makes it all work.
The Bacteria, there are many different bacteria living in the system that require oxygen in their environment. The bacteria live and colonies every surface of the aquaponics which is where the growing media is so very important and in the future
I will do a video on the growing media as it is so crucial to the system for it to function correctly.
Many people will have an aerated biomass filter as well which I don’t currently have in this system and we are relying on the growing media for our bacteria to colonies.
