Lack of Rain in the Lockyer Valley
Although much of SE Qld has received ample rain throughout summer the Lockyer Valley and many other areas have not. The Lockyer Valley which is where much of Australia’s Produce is grown and where the Dams for SE Qld are located has received below average rainfall.

Water Restrictions
The SEQ Water is currently asking everyone in South East Qld to reduce their water use as the current capacity of the combined level of the Grid dams servicing this area are below 70%. https://www.seqwater.com.au/water-restrictions
This request will change when the combined level of the Grid dams levels hit 50% when restrictions will be considered according to SEQ Water.

How does the lack of rain effect ALL of SE QLD
Obvious implications are water restrictions. The less obvious effects are on the cost of groceries.
Farmers in this area are being severely effect by the lack of rain and many other things as well. With little rain farmers have had to purchase extra water allocations and pay for extra water usage. In some cases farmers have simply decided to not plant food crops as the ground is just too hard and it would require too much watering.
This leads to a decrease in the supply of fresh locally grown produce in the area which means produce either becomes a lot more expensive or unavailable or has to be imported with a serious decrease in quality.
This is all on top of the shortage of labor to harvest the produce which will already decrease supply and increase price of produce.
